When I shifted to chennai, I used to be alone at the home as everyone will go to office except me. So being bored one day, I came out in the portico and sat down for some fresh air. Out of nowhere, a ginger cat showed up and sat beside me.
I was initially scared as cats are unpredictable fuckers and they might scratch me. But that lady was sitting without doing anything. I slowly started to pet it and then lifted it and kept in my lap. It was quiet and didn't do anything. So after petting it for sometime, I went inside and continued working.
Later that evening, when I came out again, this lady came to me again out of nowhere and started to stand beside me. It started to rub on my legs. I thought it's asking for food and so I ordered milk and cat food for it. It silently ate it and left the place. The same thing happened for 2-3 days.
Then that cat started coming everyday. So we started giving the leftover food or excess food that we cooked for it. Within two weeks, there was suddenly 3 cats.
Other stray cats saw the good treatment this ginger cat was getting and they also wanted a piece or that. A week later, there was another female cat with its three kittens showed up in the portico. Suddenly the entire farm house was filled with cats. Because of the treatment these cats were getting and the presence of these cats, many cats started showing up and they started staying inside our compound.
There were around nine cats staying beside us in the farm house. Literally, there were more cats in the room than there were people in the room. Having those cats was a good thing for me atleast, as I got to spend some time with them and it helped me relax and reduce my work stress and other worries. Because of the mental relief they gave me, I started to take care of them.
Of course since they all are stray cats, they roam out the house and there were instances where some cats go out but never return. Requiescat In Pace.
It was my first time being close with an animal. As far as I remember, we never owned any animals in our home. The only animal interaction I had was with a dog over video. Even that was not a real life interaction and I loved that guy so much. RIP that good boi too. His demise made me realize I had soft spot for animals.
Anyway, back to our cats. So I started to pet them without any fear and even they started to approach me without any fear. It was kinda good and soothing to see myself surrounded by so many cats(i meant to add something elsr here but it was too cringe).
They all started to live under our cars. Our cars made good shelter for them for rain, cold and heat. The small kitten used to sneak into the hood from below since they are small and they started to bite off wire inside. Fortunately, they didn't bite my car xd.
Very recently, we all went our for a shoot and we came back by evening. I opened the gate for car and I saw something small run across into the bushes. I took a close look and saw a very small cat. I was so happy to see it as it was a week old kitten I guess. It was my first time seeing that small kitten and I was so happy. Then I entered my house and to my surprise, there were 2 other lil bros inside. The mother cat brought all these 3 kittens through terrace and kept it in the pathway under the stairs for safety.
It was so cute to see such small cats for the first time. I have seen them in pictures but that was the first time for me to see them in real life. They were such a cuties and adorable man. Because of these lil bros, the mummy cat started to get very special treatment not just from me, but from everyone in our house😆.
We let these small kittens inside our home for safety purpose. They were the first ones we let inside to roam freely as we never let other stray cats inside for health and hygiene issues. Since these guys were there since beginning, we decided to let them be inside until they are somewhat big enough to be left outside.
These lilbros used to roam freely in my room as my room is in the upstairs near balcony and that's where the mom cat stays. They come everyday, play around, bite my laptop and mobile charger cables, scratch their nails on bags, mosquito nets, eat well and then go sleep under the stairs in a bed I made for them. It was relaxing to watch them be goofy around the house. I wish to continue growing these guys and their next generation in that farmhouse until I'm there. We'll see how it goes.
See you guys in the next Post. Peace.
